What Hydro Jetting Is

Hydro jetting is a way to clean a pipe with water under high pressure. We feed a hose with a special nozzle into the line. The water sprays out against the pipe walls as the hose moves through. It scrubs off grease, sludge and buildup. Then it flushes all of that down and out of the line.

A drain snake works in a different way. It is a metal cable that spins and punches through a clog. That opens a path, but the walls of the pipe can stay coated. Jetting cleans the whole inside of the pipe, not just a hole through the middle.

We wrote a full side-by-side guide on hydro jetting vs snaking if you want more detail on how the two tools work.

What Moves the Price Above $199

Our hydro jetting starts from $199. A few things can push a job above that. We will always talk them through with you first.

How long the line is

A short kitchen drain is a smaller job than a long main line out to the tank or the street. More pipe means more time with the jetter.

How easy the line is to reach

We need a way into the pipe. That is often a cleanout, which is a capped pipe that gives us a straight shot into the line. If there is no cleanout, or it is buried, the job takes longer.

How bad the buildup is

A line with light buildup cleans up fast. A line packed with years of grease takes more passes. Roots in the line also take more work to clear.

Home or business

Commercial kitchens and grease lines often have much heavier buildup than a home drain. Those jobs tend to cost more.

Hydro Jetting Sewer Line Cost

People often ask about sewer line jetting cost on its own. Your sewer line is the main pipe that carries everything from the house out to the septic tank or the city sewer.

Our sewer line cleaning starts from $249. That covers clearing the main line, not just one sink or tub drain. Long lines, roots and hard access can raise the price, the same as with any jetting job.

Sometimes cleaning shows the pipe itself is the problem. It may be cracked, sagging or full of roots that came in through a broken joint. Jetting will clear it, but the problem will come back. In that case we will tell you so. Sewer repair starts from $249. Our repairs come with a warranty on parts and labor. The terms depend on the type of repair, and we explain them before we start.

When Drain Cleaning Is Enough

You do not always need hydro jetting. Our standard drain cleaning starts from $149, and for a lot of clogs it does the job.

Drain cleaning is often enough when:

  • One drain is slow, like a single sink or tub.
  • It is the first clog you have had in that line.
  • The clog is soft, like hair, soap or toilet paper.
  • Every other drain in the house is working fine.

In those cases, there is no reason to pay for more than you need.

When Hydro Jetting Is Worth the Extra

Jetting costs more than basic drain cleaning. It is worth it when a simple clearing will not hold. These are the signs we look for:

  • The same drain keeps clogging. If a line backs up again and again, the walls are likely coated. A snake opens it for a while, then it closes again.
  • Grease is the cause. Grease sticks to the pipe walls and builds up over time. Jetting washes it off.
  • Roots are in the line. Roots can grow into pipe joints. Jetting can cut them back and flush them out.
  • More than one drain is slow. When toilets, tubs and sinks all drain slowly, the trouble is often in the main line.
  • The tank was pumped, but drains are still slow. This one surprises people.

That last point is a real job from September 2026. Todd Jackson had his septic tank pumped. But the line was still stopped up. So our team came back and hydro jetted the line. After that, it was flowing clear.

The lesson is simple. A full tank and a clogged line can look the same from inside the house. Pumping empties the tank. It does not clean the pipe that runs to it. If your drains are still slow after a pump-out, the line may need jetting. You can read more about our hydro jetting services and how we do it.

When Neither One Is Enough

We will be honest with you. Some problems are not clogs at all.

If your field lines are failing, no amount of jetting will fix them. Field lines, also called the drain field, are the buried pipes that soak treated water into the yard. Signs include soggy ground or standing water over that area, and slow drains all through the house.

If a tank part has failed or the field lines need work, that is a septic repair. Our septic system repair starts from $249. If the drain field needs to be replaced, we price that by quote only, because every yard is different.

That is why we look at the whole system before we pick a fix. Jetting a line will not help if the real problem is in the yard.

Common Questions About Hydro Jetting Cost

How much does it cost to hydrojet your sewer line?

With us, hydro jetting starts from $199 and sewer line cleaning starts from $249. The final price depends on how long the line is, how easy it is to reach and how bad the buildup is. We give you the price before we start.

Is hydro jetting worth the cost?

It is worth it when a line keeps clogging, when grease or roots are the cause, or when several drains are slow at once. For a single soft clog, drain cleaning from $149 is often all you need.

What are the signs I need hydro jetting?

Watch for the same drain clogging again and again, several slow drains at once, gurgling when you flush, or slow drains right after a pump-out. Any of these can point to buildup in the line.

How often should sewer lines be jetted?

There is no single answer. It depends on what goes down your drains, how old the pipe is and whether roots are nearby. A home line may go a long time without it. A busy kitchen line may need it more often. We will tell you what we see in your line.

Can I do hydro jetting myself?

We do not suggest it. The water is under very high pressure. It can hurt you, and it can crack an old or weak pipe. If the clog is from a broken pipe or roots, jetting alone will not fix it anyway. A pro can tell you what is really going on before the pipe gets worse.
